At this private mansion in Cannes, we worked with our clients on an extraordinary renovation project. Dating from the 1930s, this 650m2, 3-storey building was in an advanced state of disrepair, lacking light and unsuited to the comfort of a family of 5. Our clients wanted a richly detailed and colourful interior with a certain French classicism.
Redistributing the spaces and circulation was fairly straightforward, as these old buildings were once designed for families who entertained, and the different aspects of life were already well thought out.
The interior joinery was renovated for thermal comfort, but also to increase the amount of light.
We were able to breathe new life into this majestic but formerly very dark entrance hall, with a checkerboard pattern in pink travertine stone, new ironwork and the restoration of the various cornices.
Natural Versailles and herringbone parquet floors have also been added throughout the rooms.
All the trappings of classic period décor have been revisited at the couple’s request, with exceptional tapestries from publishers such as Pierre Frey, Schumacher and Clarence House. Other details that take us on a journey through the ages include art deco-style light fittings, created to order, and mouldings, picture rails and arches that did not exist and were entirely created during the renovation.
To bring a decidedly trendier feel to these classic settings, we added strong, contemporary touches of colour, such as cameos in red and pink, feminine colours for which our client had a real passion.
The furniture, kitchen, interior doors, dressing rooms and sanitary units were all designed in our design studio.
We wish this young family a wonderful move to the Côte d’Azur.
